Summer 2022 production

Actor Brandon Knudson

Played by Brandon Knudson

A sweet, somewhat quiet, but funny once you get to know him type, who started university a bit late. Currently studying Sociology. Enjoys different cultures. Met Grace in a study group at school. He’s totally into her even though he knew from the very start she was leaving at the end of the month to go back to Taiwan.

Played by Giselle Yang

A smart, somewhat introverted girl with a sense of adventure (as long as it’s well thought-out). Struggles with living in the moment normally, but with Dave things seems different.

Normally a bit reserved,  her true nature shows when she lets her guard down – people are often surprised to discover a witty personality and a wilder side.

Middle Age Neighbour

Played by Shelly Amos

Messy and a bit grumpy. Has a bad back from years of working and is kinda over it all.

Appears in one scene. Just as Dave and Grace are about to kiss, the neighbour makes an untimely appearance to grab her mail out of the mailbox. Must have sense of comedic timing.

(No audition necessary, just email headshot and short note about yourself to dcbrandonfilms@gmail.com)

How to apply

Submit a self-taped read of SCENE 9 using the script below.

read the script

I have posted the full script for this short film below. Please read through it and ask yourself if this is the type of short film you wish to star in. If you find the story and characters compelling, then the answer may be yes.

understand the character

It’s important to really think about the character you are auditioning for. What do they seem to want in the story? What do they value? What kind of person do they seem to be? How might you bring them to life?

record your self-taped audition

Find a partner and ask them to read with you for the self-taped audition. Make sure you rehearse your lines several times prior to recording a take. Many actors submit self-taped auditions fully off book (aka they memorized the scene). Remember, the goal of the audition is to stand out from the pack with a strong performance.
